A Businesswoman, a Banker, a College Professor & an IT Manager

This is what happens when a businesswoman, a banker, an IT Manager and a college professor who’s a candidate for PhD do a Christmas dance number.

They call their group, The Wrong Direction (gleaned & predicated from the British group One Direction). And every year, when they are about to end their wacky performance they would shout and ask us, the spectators, “Mabuhay Manila, do you want more!?”.  And every year all of us, their dazed & confused audience, in unison would scream the biggest “NOooo!!”.

Gabby, the IT Manager! He was judged the best performer this year.  Haha!

Holding a talent contest and performing in front of my family during Christmas Eve has been a tradition.   They won the Grand Prize this year amounting to 60 USD.  So, can you just imagine how bad the other groups (my other family members) performed?

They claim that they won because they were so in unison and perfectly danced like the Korean pop group BTS.  Why did they win?  It was because I was the judge.  Haha!  These businesswoman, banker, college professor and IT manager are my crazy niece & nephews by the way.  One good thing though, they are not working for one company.  After their crazy performance, I had a headache.

Hilarious Laugh

Somewhere within the metaphysics of Facebook, it must have analyzed that I badly need a good laugh.  It must have been so long ago that I actually no longer remember the moment when I had a crazy chuckle.

In my Facebook feeds, this clip was weirdly suggested.

Here is a case when the laughter is funnier than the joke. Super hilarious!  Now I need to get that red shorts for me to give to my friends.

Madocs Alumnus & My Silly Dream Occupation

I follow the Facebook page of my college alma mater.  The officer of the Alumni Relations Section of my old college plans to highlight endeavors and achievements of all alumni then posted a message.  She asked all graduates to inform her via private message about the following information: full name; baccalaureate degree earned; year graduated; present occupation; and, present country living in.

Instead of sending private message about their present status a lot of graduates opted to post in the comments section about the information being asked by the Alumni Relations Officer.  I was stunned at how successful all these alumni who posted their respective comments/status.  Those comments are awe-inspiring testimonies about the quality of education as well as how holistic personal developments are being honed by the Manila Doctors College now known as Manila Tytana Colleges.

I opted to follow the favor/instruction of the person who needed my data.  But I tweaked it a little!  Here’s what I posted:

Name:  (my whole name, which is so saintly by definition

                Course:  BS Psychology 1991

Dream Occupation:  Prostitute / Porn Star

True Occupation:  (my present occupation, which is so mind-numbing in nature)

                Country:  Philippines!

I obviously failed on reaching my dream occupation! No porn production house now would hire me with my skinny legs and big fat belly.  And besides, Manila Doctors College does not have the curriculum in making my dream occupation be realized.

Ay mis Madocs!

My Stats on Federer’s 18th

Grand Slam tennis tournaments (may it be the Wimbeldonn, the US Open, Roland Garros, or the Aussie Open) are full and bombarded with statistics.  Their organizers along with various sports networks and correspondents makes the sport more interesting through the usage of various statistical analyses and historical data about the game.

With the recent fantastic win of my most favorite tennis player in history during the 2017 Australian Open edition, let me feature my own stats concerning Roger Federer and the recently concluded championship match.

Zero. Zero is the number of times I watched tennis grand slam match last year.  I seem to have lost interest about the game when Roger Federer started losing in a string of tennis matches and Rafael Nadal seem to have hidden from the limelight due to injury.  Without this two, tennis for me – until just recently – seem to already become an uninteresting kind of sport to watch.

Nil That is the volume of my expectation that I would get to actually see Roger Federer again in a Majors championship.  Nil, null or nothing was also my level of expectancy that Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal would battle it out in the finals of a Grand Slam title.  But stars seemed to have realigned and let these two legends reach the finals of the 2017 Australian Open.

Countless.  While watching the championship game, I lost count on the number of times I shrieked, shouted and cheered every time Roger Federer wins a point against Rafa Nadal.  I also lost count on how many times I gasp for air every time Rafa would fix his shorts or pick his wedgie before every serve.

Thirty Five and Ten.  As if defying physical drawbacks like skin sagging, joint pains, poor eyesight and reduction in motor agility that comes along with old age, 35 is the age of Roger Federer when he won last Sunday’s tennis championship.  While 10 (from the range of 0 being the lowest and 10 being the highest) shall remain my rating in terms of the hotness of Rafael Nadal.

Five This is the number of times I fervently prayed to the heavens during the recent Aussie Open Federer vs Nadal championship match.  Since it took Federer 5 sets to win, every freakin’ set, I prayed “God! Please let Roger win!”

Eighteen.  After winning the Australian Open 2017sweet eighteen is the huge and unbelievable number of times that my idol Roger Federer won the Grand Slam tournaments.  And what is so sweet about this 18th Majors title is that he won it over a match with Rafa whom I suppose he considers his greatest nemesis in the game of tennis.  Nadal I believe is the legendary tennis player who actually prevented Federer from winning more grand slam championships!

One Hundred.  I’m not a Swiss, I have never been to Switzerland and I don’t play tennis.  But a solid 100% shall I remain to being a huge fan of Roger Federer!

Channeling a Retro Fashion Passion

As soon as it was agreed that the theme of the company that I worked with was Retro 60s & 70s, I channeled on the personas of Billy Preston, the Jackson 5, Angela Davis, Jimmy Hendrix and the Supremes.  I plumped into the idea of donning into the so called afro fashion which became a fad during the 70s.

Fortified with a deep thought as funneled by these iconic 70s Afro-American icons that “with right fashion passion everything would be aflame” this is how my retro-party-look ended up:

It was super fun dressing up for a retro party!

Laughing at Conjuring

Two weeks ago was movie night in the office.  I was the one who initiated the invitation for this mini-gig.  The movie in my mind was the terrifying second edition of Conjuring and as expected only few agreed to join.  Not everyone, I guess, in the office is keen on watching creepy movies.

The movie is supposed to be cerebrally ominous and emotionally disturbing.  But what turned out during our viewing was the opposite.  Watching Conjuring 2 suddenly felt like me and my colleagues entered into some fun horror house of some amusement park.  This is because we were giggling our hearts out while awaiting the big scare of a scene!  And we would cackle so hard because the movie was so effective in startling our wits out!

The fun feeling and pleasurable laughter we had seem to overpower the supposed feeling of intense fright and terror.  Conjuring 2 then suddenly became a super fun and enjoyable movie.  It is a must see movie with fun friends!  Can’t wait for its third installment!
