My Frozen

When someone discusses anything about Frozen, young lads and lassies today would link and associate this to the fearless princess Elsa, her adorable sister and the cheerful Olaf.  Yeah, Frozen would be about the fun charming Disney movie and its sequel based on the fairy tale Snow Queen.

young people’s king of ‘frozen”

Frozen today would also be associated to a now classic seven-year-old song where the snow glows white on the mountain tonight and where the wind is howling like a swirling storm inside. Hahaha! Yeah, it is entitled (who would not know?) Let it Go.

But for me, I don’t associate Frozen to Frozen, the movie.  It is because prior to this film, during my younger years, my brain has been wired, stuck and enthused by an excellent 22-year-old song and a music video masterpiece.

I would associate Frozen to a mystifying lady in a black dress who would mysteriously collapse on the ground and would magically turn into numerous black flying crows.  I would correlate Frozen to a lady who tells us that “love is a bird, it needs to fly, let all the hurt inside of us die

Watch this, this is my Frozen.

Yup, my favorite song in Madonna’s 1998 album Ray of Light is my Frozen.

But no matter what your Frozen is.  May it be the sensuous song by Madonna or the Let It Go from the movie Frozen, both songs seem to have an interlocking message.  It tells us that we should simply let go because we are considered frozen when our hearts are not open.

The Sameness and Difference Between A Madonna Fan And A Duterte Fan

A fanatic is someone who is enthusiastically devoted to something or somebody.  They are the type whose supposed reasoning and realistic views are often clouded by their strong affection, uncritical adoration or excessive enthusiasm towards the object or person of their devotion.

filipino fanatics

filipino fandom

I for one is a fan.  Lots of friends and relatives know that the person of my fanaticism is the Queen of Pop Madonna.  I have done senseless things in the past on my being a fan of Madonna.  That is, from hanging huge posters or framed photos in my room to cutting and collecting clippings of articles written about her to buying all her records.

I am a fan because whatever Madonna does, I still admire her.  My reasoning, logic and judgement tends to get murky when it comes to Madonna.  Whatever she does, whatever she says and whatever she thinks, no matter how bad, evil or crazy it is, such will just be fine, tolerable and acceptable with me.

I can always reason out or justify why she utter a thought or does things no matter how stupid it may be.  I can even think of meanings behind what seem to be symbols in her wardrobe, in her songs or in her music videos.  That is how fanatic I am about Madonna.

This is the very idea that led me to think about the new fandoms that has emerged in two countries where the presidential election campaigns are ongoing.  I am talking about USA and the Philippines.

In US, it can no longer be denied the existence of hardcore devotion towards the Republican front runner Donald Trump.  And here in the Philippines, we have the presidential front runner and likely victor Rodrigo Duterte, whose despicable utterances and vile conducts make Donald Trump look like a polite and obedient boy.

And since I live here in the Philippines, let me focus the fanaticism towards Duterte.  Otherwise known as “The Digong Phenomenon”, this fandom is something new here in the Philippines.  According to social analysts, this new fanbase crisscrosses the social status spectrum, i.e. from class A to E.

And despite the fact that he has gone fickle in admitting to have hidden wealth, he disrespect the elders, challenge the foreign allies, admitted to have killed thousands of people, joked about rape and death of a slashed neck woman, call the Pope a son of a b, and does not seem to have concrete plans about the Philippines, his fans still would not mind.  The fanatics still profess to vote for him in the coming election.  They would even threaten to fight and stage a revolution in case he loses.

Yeah, I am the same of a fan-tard of Madonna as what multitude of Filipinos to being fan-tards of Duterte. But what’s the disturbing difference?  I can think of only one answer.

The big difference would be the effect of such fanaticism. My devotion or Madonna fans’ adoration would not shape or influence the future of a nation.  While the Duterte fanaticism could actually affect everyone in the Philippines may a citizen be a fan or not.  Madonna’s utterances, actions, triumphs and failures would basically affect her and her alone.  But Duterte’s actions, decisions, would-be-achievements and most-likely-transgressions would obviously affect every Filipino may they be based here or abroad.

And since I am not a fan, the thought of Duterte being my President makes me so anxious and nervous.    The result of the upcoming Philippine election definitely is a very critical event.  Whether I like it or not, it will be part of my life in the next six years.  The future of the overall situation of the nation where I breathe is at stake.  And the thought of Duterte being my President makes me shiver!  That is why in my humble effort, I would try to dissuade people from voting for Duterte.

I know that (like my unbending illogical adoration towards Madonna) the Duterte fanatics will never, in any way reverse or even bend their fanaticism towards Mr. Duterte.  And in case Duterte is proclaimed the President, I would just have to accept and assent to the impending menacing circumstances.

I will most probably lynched or will have to shower offensive slurs in the next couple of days because of this piece of writing – because Duterte diehards can somewhat be rude, insulting and odious – but I truly hope and pray that Duterte fans are outnumbered by voters who chose a different candidate.

Aside from being the same on being illogical, unbending and absurd. I just hope that Duterte fanatics are outnumbered, the same way that I being a Madonna fan is outnumbered.

Santa Maria!!! Hwag naman sana!!!!

My Proof of Purchase of the Rebel Heart Tour

the "iconic" number the would result to sensory overload!

sensory overload! i was too mesmerized to record this

Now that the Manila and Singapore leg of the Rebel Heart tour has been concluded, Queen Madonna right now must be prepping up for her concert in New Zealand.  But right here in Manila, the vibe and spirit of the concert still reverberates.

Everyone who were able to see the show here in Manila have posted their own video clip of Madonna performing in their respective social media account.  This is their “proof of purchase” for such a spectacular event!  Their video is their tool to prove that they actually have the bragging rights and make those who failed to see it go inanely envious.

Who wouldn’t brag about witnessing this event?  It so far is the most expensive concert ticket sold in the live-entertainment-event history of the Philippines!  Thus, it would be ridiculous not to take a photo or a video!

Now that I am reviewing the video clips that I took during the concert, only now that I realized that my videos were too short.  My video clips were too short because I prefer watching Queen Madonna not from my cellphone screen and I guess I was too mesmerized by her every performance that I was not able to record properly.

Therefore, as my “proof of purchase”, I won’t post a clip of Madonna performing, I would instead publish the most amazing concert interlude that I have seen!

This is what I took… Start to get amazed…

Kakamangha! ‘Yan ang gagawin kong prodaksyon namber sa darating na Krismas Parti…  Hahaha!

That Liberating Feeling Channeled by Queen Madonna

I may not be aware but as far as I know, I don’t curse.  Uttering expletives and swearwords is really not my cup of tea.  That is why while I was watching the first night of Madonna concert (Rebel Heart Tour) here in Manila I was surprised and was in disbelief by Madonna who generously peppered us with the “Mother F” words.  It initially felt awkward.

What is even more uncomfortable is that Madonna wanted us (the audience) to answer her questions in the affirmative by shouting “F@#k Yeah!” It was indeed super unpleasant at first.  But as the show develops to become more spectacular song after song, answering Madonna with such profanity seem so liberating.

I was like un-caged for a while and did not care who would react to such profanities that I was blaring.  And since everybody was in such a happy mood and because everybody else is doing it, no one cared, no one got offended and no one was hurt.  And that is the beauty of being able to scream out something that is unusual yet astonishingly redemptive and unshackling.

liberating aside from being spectacular!

happy!

happy!

My shouting “F@#k Yeah!” that night actually became a bit of therapeutic.  It is because I was luckily able to channel and vent out all my worries, anxieties and desperations in my screaming!  I did not seem to care what Madonna was asking her audience but when it was time to respond and shriek with the rest of the spectators, I was pouring out all my angsts!

Madonna’s Rebel Heart tour I guess lived up to the title of the concert.  My heart indeed became temporarily rebellious from the norm because my civility would seem fly out the window every time I shout to respond to the Queen.  But the cathartic effect of screaming expletives that night was really comforting in the end.  No, I did not changed by starting to utter expletives from now on,  but that night, I left the concert cheering and ecstatic yet deep within me I was feeling calm, quiet and free.

I don’t know if my troglodyte-like writing and relaying these thoughts makes any sense but my shouting “F@#k Yeah!” that night was indeed one unusual liberating experience!

Pak Ya! Hahaha!

It was all exclamation points in my thought bubble from the start to finish!  This is how I would describe my general feelings when I watched the Manila leg of Madonna’s Rebel Heart Tour.  It was like a super blessing granted to me by the Supreme Being!

singing "La Vie En Rose"

singing “La Vie En Rose”

I have been a Madonna fan since the day I first heard the song “Everybody”.  All my classmates, all my friends, my colleagues, my relatives and of course Nengkoy knows this.  And ever since that day, I have been wishing from the heavens to grant me the royal opportunity to see even at least one of her spectacular shows.  I actually thought that this would never be accorded but I guess the Book of Secret is correct all along when it says “Nothing can come into your experience unless you summon it through persistent thoughts.”

The Rebel Heart tour and finally seeing Madonna performing live would be the apex, the apogee and the culmination of my being diehard fan.

Long live the Queen!!!

Santa Maria!!! Salamat!!!

A Michael & Madonna Megamix

beat it, bitch i'm madonnaI’m not a fan of Michael Jackson but watching this remix/mashup music video makes me wish that he was still alive.   This is one superb work by Robin Skouteris.

I never wondered whether these songs would mix so well together.  This is genius!  Seeing the late Michael Jackson and the very much alive and bitching Madonna now could have been one great event that this planet would experience.

Enough with the wishful thinking!  Just beat it bitch and hit the play button!

Ay em labing dis!!!

Happy Birthday to the Rain Singer

Only God and I knows why I am very happy today!!! My general happy feeling can be described by my chosen song of the day.  And I would like to greet a very Happy Birthday to the woman who sang this lovely song.

A shower of kisses to you and see in February here in Manila!

Maligayang bati sa bruha kong aydol! ‘Di lang ikaw ang hapi ngayon, AKO din…

Sneak Peak at Madonna’s Rebel Heart Tour

Bow down bitches!!! Her Madgesty is coming soon!!!  Here are two teasers of Madonna’s upcoming Rebel Heart World Tour.

Are those pole-dancing nuns?

It’s still seven months to go before Madonna performs here in Manila, yet this early, I am already freakin’ excited.  I still can’t believe that I already got myself a ticket!

Ay kent weyt!

The Journey On Madonna Concert Ticket

I grew up listening to her music.  I grew up liking her ever changing image.  I grew up idolizing this woman who ignited an entire generation to express themselves.

Seeing a Madonna Concert is the only thing that is lacking of my being a die-hard fan.  Click this LINK for you to know how big a fan I am of Madonna: http://neillangit.com/2008/08/17/a-fan-of-a-golden-girl/

To fulfil my self-imposed requirement, I seriously considered travelling to Tel Aviv, Israel in 2012 to watch the Sticky and Sweet World Tour.  I chose Tel Aviv because that seem to be the nearest country where I can watch that concert.  Also, being a Filipino I need not apply for a tourist visa in that country.  But due to budget constraints I obviously was not able to go.

Then just about two weeks ago, my super friend Jesse who’s based in Sydney messaged me and invited me to see the Rebel Heart show in Australia.  He sent me the link on how the purchase should go.  This is despite the fact that Madonna performing in Manila is already becoming a big buzz.   I was so close to buying the ticket!  But for some weird reason, obviously I did not.

Until two days after chatting with Aussie Jesse, the big news was announced that Madonna for the first time will perform in Manila.  I did not believe it still, until I personally checked the official Madonna website.  And when I saw for myself that Madonna is indeed coming, I was like feeling so moved!!!  I know I’m not religious, but I felt so moved, it made me wanna pray!!!

the only one in asia!!!

the only one in asia!!!

Then, 4 days prior to the official selling of tickets to public, I received a text message from Citibank informing me that I got the opportunity to buy Madonna tickets because of their pre-sale program. I of course did not let this chance go! I moved my ass and bought 2 ticket seats.

I need someone to accompany me during the concert so I bought 2 tickets.  One for my dear sister Gaying.  My sister during the event has been assigned to pinch my nose and slap me in the face to remind me that what I am about to see and experience is not a dream.

finally!

finally!

Now that I got myself her concert ticket, one of my life’s bucket list will finally become a realization.  See you there…

Parating na ang sugo. Bili na ng tiket!

Living For Love by Madonna Featuring Ellen

I am a huge fan of both Madonna and Ellen.  These two ladies would definitely be on top of my list for my most favorite Americans.

Here’s one awesome performance by the Queen of Pop featuring Ellen!  The funny intro and the cute ending made me chuckle… I love it!

 Kwins!
