In each of the time that I visited Singapore in the past, going to the famous and tourist-infested Night Zafari has always been part of the itinerary. And in each time of such visit, this planned route never transpired and took place.
Maybe it is because I am not a fan and not fond of visiting animals in cages. Maybe it has dawned in me somewhere in my nutty unconscious that I really don’t enjoy seeing animals in asylums. Maybe for me, the experience of going to a zoo is like witnessing fauna as refugees. Yeah, I have been fascinated and been to lots of natural history museums around the planet that feature primates and other zoological beings but these I presumed died prior to being preserved or taxidermy-ied.
In my most recent visit to captivating Singapore with Nengkoy and few members of my family, I again failed to visit the Night Zafari (I really don’t know if such a place still runs and exists). And ironically, my foremost reason why I wanted to visit Singapura this time was because I wanted to see not the animals but the P.L.A.N.T.S!
Gardens By The Bay is a 100-hectare botanical garden located right in the heart of the city. It is so huge, we basically stayed in the area to marvel about the beauty of the plant kingdom the whole day yet still (and of course) failed to see and smell the entire nature park. Something awesome about this place is that it is so fresh and modern-day. I guess ultra-modern people of the planet now no longer wants to see creatures of the animal kingdom inside a cage!
I never had appreciated plants this way before! The eco-domes called Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest were like fantastic paradises on earth! Getting around the area was so pleasant. The best part is that there is no guilt feelings building up inside your inner being because there is no person or animal that has been hurt during such a fun and marvelous experience.
Good thing I failed to bring a bowl and a salad dressing during our visit, otherwise, I would have made a scrumptious green & blossom salad out of those plants!
At hindi lang ako ang presko sa lugar… alam na!
